First of all, Danish fashion grew to be the country's fourth largest export. Secondly, just 10 years ago, there were just 8 brands during Copenhagen Fashion Week. Nowadays, more than 60 000 people visit CFW twice a year to watch more than 40 fashion shows.
It is time to define the Danish DNA in fashion. It has to be the key to success.
I had a chance to talk with young Danish designers from Royal Academy of Fine Arts during one of the Copenhagen Fashion Weeks. They told me that, the imperative in Danish culture is to look great, but to feel comfortable as well. So they create in a spirit of so called "democratic design". Their focus is on quality, comfort and simplicity.
I was also attending Designers Market in Forum. I collected two really interesting intervews with managers from Dansk and The Question of. So Danish brands.
Check out what they have to say if it comes to Danish DNA in fashion:
The approach is that people should be able to wear a design on many different occasions - go from work to a bar and still look chic.

However, in my opinion, Danish fashion is full of paradox: on the one hand, it is promoting ethical values, such as social responsibility in fashion by using mostly fair trade - certified materials and organic cotton, and on the other hand, it is promoting fashion as exclusive, irrational and seductive.
eghhhh...we are all slaves to fashion, we're all fucking idiots.
Sometimes. <seen on one of the windows shopping in CPH ;)>
